About this product
The LMFX® Water-Based Metal Binder is designed to securely bond real metal powders to a wide range of surfaces, forming the foundation of the LMFX® metal finishing system. It allows artists, designers and finishers to create durable, realistic metal effects suitable for decorative and professional applications.
This metal binder is used to mix and apply LMFX® metal powders, creating authentic metal finishes that can be further enhanced with reactive patinas. It is ideal for furniture, wall panels, sculptures, interior features and bespoke design projects.

How to use

Stir the metal powder into the binder at a ratio of 3 to 1: 3 parts metal to 1 part binder by weight.
Apply
Prime the surface with a primer that suits it, then brush, roll or spray the mix on. Make a sample in your technique first.
Finish
Sand and polish to a shine, or apply a patina for aged, oxidised effects. Then seal with a clear sealer.

Is metal included?
No. Choose any LMFX metal powder, or buy a kit with metal and binder together.
Fine or Textured binder?
Fine Binder is smooth and paint-like, for brushed, rolled or sprayed finishes. Textured Binder is thicker and trowel-friendly, for sculpted or dimensional effects.
How much metal to binder?
Stir the metal powder into the binder at a ratio of 3 to 1: 3 parts metal to 1 part binder by weight.
Is it water-based?
Yes. LMFX binders are water-based, low VOC and non-flammable.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, indoors and outdoors. Use a clear sealer if you don’t want the finish to patinate (oxidise), or to protect it from general wear.
